Facing flak from all directions over rising pollution level in the national capital, the state government on Tuesday asked its officials to conduct a crackdown on defaulters. Also, Delhi pollution control committee has launched two WhatsApp numbers to receive complaints against defaulters and urged residents to send photographs of those not complying by NGT’s orders.
Delhi’s environment minister Imran Hussain, said in a statement that the Delhi government is ready to give financial assistance from the air ambiance fund to the municipal corporations, DDA and other such agencies if they come up with a practical plan to curb air pollution.
“He (minister) has sought reports from the municipal corporations and revenue department of action taken against those burning waste in the open,” said a Delhi government official.
“We would like to request the responsible citizens clicks pictures of those flouting NGT’s order and send via WhatsApp on numbers- 9717593501 and 9717593574. We will take adequate action against the defaulters,” said the official.
The pollution level in Delhi remained in ‘very poor’ category on Tuesday with a forecast for worsening situations in days ahead.
