The Hyderabad police had been looking out for the surgeon from Monday evening after he allegedly fired at doctor Uday.
Dr. Shashi, who had disappeared after he was accused of firing at another doctor Uday on Monday evening, shot himself dead in the early hours of Tuesday, said the Cyberabad police. Dr. Shashi’s body was found in a pool of blood with bullet injury in his head in a farmhouse at Nakkalapally in Moinabad on city outskirts.
The Hyderabad police had been looking out for the surgeon from Monday evening after he allegedly fired at Dr. Uday. Dr. Sashi, Dr. Uday and their business partner Sai, also a doctor, were sitting in Dr. Uday’s car at Himayathnagar when the former had allegedly opened fire.
While Dr. Sai ran for his life, Dr. Uday sustained bullet injury and got admitted to hospital. “Dr. Uday was being operated on and admitted in Intensive Care Unit. But it seems Dr. Shashi believed that Uday had died,” Rajendranagar ACP Ganga Reddy told The Hindu.
A ‘suicide note’ purportedly written by the surgeon and found beside his body stated that he had ‘not killed’ Uday. It states that Dr. Sai had killed Uday using the surgeon’s revolver.
According to police, the surgeon, Dr. Uday and another Dr. Sai invested money in constructing Laurel hospital in Madhapur.
But they developed differences over the manner it was being managed. They had earlier held discussions to settle the dispute and met in a hotel in Himayathnagar on Monday evening to sort out the issues.
They came out and sat in the car when Dr. Shashi fired one round at Dr. Uday with his licenced .32 revolver, the police said.
