He said six soldiers were injured in the terrorist attack.
“The injured soldiers were evacuated to military hospital at Badamibagh Srinagar, where one jawan succumbed to injuries. Five others are undergoing treatment,” the official said.
After the terrorist attack, police, paramilitary and Army men launched a joint combing and search operation in the area to track down the attackers.
No terrorist group has claimed responsibility of the attack.
However, a senior police official said it can either be handiwork of the Lashkar-e-Taiba or Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists.
“Both Lashkar and Hizb militants are active in south Kashmir and terrorists of any of the two groups would have been involved in the attack,” he said adding they have launched investigation to identify the attackers and track them.
