West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will attend the swearing in ceremony of JD (U) leader Nitish Kumar on Sunday. Ms. Banerjee made her decision public late on Friday night, only hours after Mr. Kumar met Bihar Governor Kesri Nath Tripathi to stake claim to form government.
“Nitish-ji has invited me to his oath ceremony on Sunday. Yes, I am attending. Looking forward to it,” she said.
Mr. Kumar will take oath of office as Bihar’s Chief Minister for the fourth time on Sunday. He met the Governor to stake claim to form government, only a few hours after Jitan Ram Manjhi resigned, ahead of a floor test in the state Assembly. Mr Kumar was invited to take oath on Sunday.
Earlier on Friday Ms. Banerjee, who is on a three day visit of Bangladesh, congratulated Mr. Kumar for the second time in last couple of weeks.
“I had congratulated Nitish-ji on February 7, 2015. Let me congratulate him again today,” she tweeted.
