A day after Mail Today reported about the murder of 14-year-old Yogesh Kumar in Delhi, police said that a man-hunt is on to nab three suspects, while one of them has already been nabbed.
Yogesh’s mother has claimed that he was held hostage and lynched by his Muslim friends. According to the police, Shravan, who was arrested two days after the incident, has not confessed his involvement in the crime.
During interrogation, he disclosed that he was accompanied by three friends and one of them is Muslim. A source close to investigation said: “The circumstantial evidences suggests that all five of them consumed alcohol in the late hours of June 23. They may have had a heated argument which first turned into scuffle and later resulted in the death of Yogesh.”
However, Yogesh’s mother Seema, told Mail Today, “On June 23, Yogesh left home after getting a call from his friend Arif. He, along with other friends, including a girl Fatima, first kidnapped my son, later demanding Rs 10,000 from me. I was told that if money was not given on time, they will kill my son. The very next morning, I was told that my son was killed and thrown somewhere along the railway track near New Delhi station,” said Seema, who lives in Shahadra’s Meet Nagar.
Yogesh was found dead under mysterious circumstances near New Delhi Railway Station last month. Multiple injury marks were found all over his face and the body indicated that he was battered to death. Meanwhile, on Monday, the police claimed that it was not a case of lynching but that of a brutal murder. An FIR in possession with Mail Today says the body was lying in a pool of blood. Broken glass bottles, a stone and a few bricks were also found with traces of blood.
