Ten Delhi Metro stations, a majority of which are coming on different routes, will be renamed based on the recommendations of a committee constituted for the purpose, the Delhi government said on Wednesday.
These include three existing stations currently functional under the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) such as Tughlakabad to be renamed Tughlakabad station, Badarpur as Badarpur Border, and Okhla as Harkesh Nagar Okhla.
Apart from these, seven stations, which are in the pipeline, will be renamed.
These are Shalimar Place which will be renamed Badli Mor, Municipal Corporation as Najafgarh, Najafgarh Depot Station as Nangli, Ghevra as Ghevra Metro Station, Moti Bagh as Sir Vishweshwaraiah Moti Bagh, Okhla (Phase-III) as Okhla NSIC, and South Campus as Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus.
The renaming of the stations was discussed at a meeting held on November 26 by the Delhi government and its recommendations were approved on Wednesday.
These have been forwarded to the DMRC Managing Director for immediate action by the Delhi Transport Department.
